Greater New York Chamber of Commerce Expands Global Opportunities for Members Through USCIB Partnership
The Greater New York Chamber of Commerce (GNYCC) is expanding the international resources available to its members through a new partnership with the United States Council for International Business (USCIB). Founded in 1945, USCIB represents US business interests in international organizations in order to power the success of US business across the globe. Since 1969, USCIB has managed the national ATA Carnet system in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) through its role as the sole National Guaranteeing and Issuing Association (NGA) for the ATA Carnet system in the US. USCIB also serves as the US National Committee (NC) for the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), connecting American businesses and organizations with the global business community.
Through USCIB’s ATA Carnet Partnership Program, GNYCC members will gain access to educational resources, training opportunities, and guidance on ATA Carnets — the internationally recognized “passport for goods” that allows businesses to temporarily export eligible goods to 81 countries without paying customs duties or taxes, subject to applicable requirements. ATA Carnets are commonly used to transport commercial samples, professional equipment, and goods for trade shows, exhibitions, and demonstrations. The program will help GNYCC members better understand how ATA Carnets can simplify international business travel and support their global expansion.
GNYCC also plans to join USCIB and the ICC’s World Chambers Federation (WCF), opening the door to additional benefits through this international chamber network. The World Chambers Federation connects chambers of commerce worldwide, fostering collaboration, sharing expertise and policy perspectives, and creating opportunities for chambers and their members to engage with the global business community.
Together, these initiatives will strengthen GNYCC’s ability to support businesses pursuing international opportunities by connecting members with practical trade education, resources for navigating cross-border commerce, and a wider network of chamber relationships.
For GNYCC members interested in exporting, exhibiting abroad, or expanding into new markets, the partnership offers another avenue to access the knowledge and connections needed to compete internationally. Stay tuned for more information.
