Chamber Salutes Harlem Week

August 2013

George Faison and Mark Jaffe introduce the night's performances on the main stage of the Faison Fire House Theatre located at 124th and St Nicholas in Harlem.
The GNYCC celebrated Harlem Week at the Faison Firehouse Theatre. Members were entertained by singers and dancers who were trained by the "Tony Award" winning choreographer George Faison.  George recently was recently acknowledged as a community leader and “living legend” at the Chamber’s most recent Black History Month celebration. Anyone who was in the theatre could easily see why George has been using his skills to teach his students the importance of hard work. And Mr. Faison, now has partnered with the Chamber to help them learn more about the economic opportunities that abound in NY.

The evening started with a great networking event that was sponsored by Bonfun Spirits, LLC, Weeks Lerman Group LLC and featured signature dishes from Harlem’s own Spoon Bread Catering and Sylvia’s, The Queen of Soul Food. Soon after we were treated to a live performance in the third floor dance studio and than a fantastic performance in the two story main theatre before going back downstairs to hear from our other sponsors; including NY RX Card …..

What George has done is very special and we need to showcase these success stories as much as we can. We look forward to working with his students and seeing them at future chamber events
