Attorney General Wins Friendship Award

June 2012

NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is congratulated by Zafer Akin (L), president of the Turkish Cultural Center of NY and Mark Jaffe (R).

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman accepted the prestigious "Community Service Award" at the 5th Annual Friendship Dinner organized by the Turkish Cultural Center and Peace Island Institute. The event was held at the spectacular Cipriani's 42nd in NYC on Friday June 22, 2012.
The award is reserved for those who take on leadership roles and demonstrate commitment to quality of life issues. A hallmark of Schneideman's career has been standing up to powerful interests on behalf of everyday New Yorkers.
In attendance were hundreds of business and civic leaders from around the country and internationally; including chamber members and the leaders of the Turkish American Business Improvement and Development Council (TABID).

Turkey's key position near the heart of the Middle East makes it an important ally and trading partner says Chamber President Mark Jaffe. In 2008 the Chamber was honored by TABID for its excellent work in promoting exports to Turkey.
